Here’s the list of software to download if you’ve ever asked the question “How can I create a 3d game without spending a penny?”
I’ve deliberately chosen only to use free software in this series so that you can download everything you need without having to pay a penny.
A word of warning: this is not going to be easy and it is going to be time consuming. You’re not going to need to pay anything to download the software but you are going to need a bucket load of resilience, independence & creativity. I strongly suggest that you partner up with some friends to take this on as a team project – it’s going to be pretty difficult to learn all 5 tools yourself.
Here are the links to the downloads:
Blender: To create your own 3d models.
I’m using version 2.78b
Unity: To put your game together and publish it for different platforms and devices
I’m using version 5.5.1f1
Audacity: To record, edit and export sounds / music.
I’m using version 2.1.2
Microsoft Visual Studio Community Edition 2015 – To write, edit and debug the code to control the game behaviour.
I’m using Community Edition 2015 version 14.0.25431.01 Update 3
Finally, if you end up making something fun, why not enter it into the Bafta Game Design competition?
